First school class suspended in Corfu due to Covid cases

CORFU. The class has been suspended until 24 December.
Class 1 in the 4th Year of Meliteon Primary School in Vraganiotika is the first class in Corfu to be closed due to Covid cases since the beginning of the school year.
Ionian Islands Regional Director of Education Petros Aggelopoulos told Enimerosi that the class has been suspended as 50% of the pupils plus one - the number required by protocol before a class is closed - have been infected with Covid. The class has been suspended since 15 December. 8 of the 14 pupils in the class have tested positive but no teachers.
New cases
There were more new cases today. According to the Ionian Islands Regional Education Department, 24 pupils and 1 teacher have tested positive for Covid-19 - 7 primary school pupils and 1 teacher as well as 17 secondary school pupils.
