Spike in viral load in Corfu wastewater

ATHENS. Corfu and Crete have highest figures. Weekly announcement of data shows increase in viral load in Corfu urban wastewater, highlighting the spike in the pandemic.
There was a 3-digit percentage increase in the viral load in urban wastewater in Corfu, Heraklion, Chania, Agios Nikolaos and Rethymnon in the week 15-21 November.
Laboratory tests conducted on urban wastewater by the National Network of Sewage Epidemiology, coordinated by EODY and included in its report, show the following:
Increases were seen in the weekly SARS-CoV-2 viral load in urban wastewater in 6 of the 13 areas inspected. The viral load remained relatively stable in another 6 areas and a decrease in one area.
The 6 areas where there was a significant increase:
433% in Heraklion
271% in Corfu
157% in Chania
95% in Agios Nikolaos
37% in Alexandroupoli
86% in Rethymnon
The 6 areas where the viral load remained relatively stable:
1% in Xanthi
2% in Thessaloniki
4% in Larissa
5% in Ioannina
-11% in Attica
13% in Volos
