CORFU. They had extorted €1,300 before being arrested.
Four people were arrested on Saturday morning after police received reports that they had been trying to extort money from a businessman.
The four Greeks - two men and two women - have been charged with carrying out extortion between 27/9 and 9/10, threatening that they would do damage to the individual and his business if he didn't pay them. They had already extorted €1,300 before being arrested.
Following a new threat to the businessman from the four, a meeting was set up on Saturday morning to hand over the agreed amount of money. Police set up a special operation and after the money was handed over, they were arrested.
The four people were taken to appear before the Corfu Prosecutor.
