The checks will be conducted by the Hellenic Police and the National Transparency Authority, in collaboration with the Inter-Service Market Control Unit (DIMEA), the Labour Inspection Authority, the Regional Audit Services and the Municipal Police.

On Saturday 9 October the new measures for vaccinated citizens regarding catering and entertainment establishments will come into force and will put an end to lockdowns – even in the “red” category regions. The vaccination certificate will serve as a “passport” for a number of activities that will help return to normality.

Health Minister Thanos Plevris announced on Wednesday the new measures that give complete freedom to the fully vaccinated in catering and entertainment establishments.

Police checks

The Hellenic Police (ELAS) and the National Transparency Authority, in collaboration with the Inter-Service Market Control Unit (DIMEA), the Labour Inspection Authority, the Regional Audit Services and the Municipal Police will conduct checks throughout the country, in order to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

The emphasis will be on vaccination or recovery certificate checks, as well as on identification checks of those entering indoor catering and entertainment establishments, in accordance with the changes that will come into force from 9 to 23 October 2021.

In particular:

- Restrictive measures for the “red” category regions – namely the curfew and ban on music in catering and entertainment establishments – will be lifted.

- Complete freedom will be given to customers in enclosed entertainment establishments, which only accept people who have been vaccinated or have recovered from Covid-19.

- There will be no restrictions in both indoor and outdoor catering and entertainment establishments that are exclusively for the vaccinated.

It should be reminded that until today, in the abovementioned places, no standing customers are allowed, while distances between tables are required and the maximum capacity allowed is 85%.

It should also be noted that the staff must wear masks and comply with the protective measures.

On the other hand, the measures for places where both vaccinated and unvaccinated people are allowed will remain the same.

The checks will concern the abovementioned activities and sectors and will be conducted throughout the whole country, in order to protect public health.
