CORFU. Two weeks after the tragic death of a young man, who might have lived if there had been an ambulance available.
Corfu Ambulance Service (EKAB) Employees' Union received the seven defibrillators bought by businesses and the Lawyers' Association today, Monday.
In the next few days they will be placed at selected points and will be the responsibility of EKAB, who will replace batteries and patches when necessary.
Following the shock in the local community at the sudden death of Stratos Tagatidis from an acute myocardial infarction, local businesses decided to purchase defibrillators to add to the island's network.
This is just the first batch as both the Chamber of Commerce and the Municipality plan to purchase more defibrillators to be placed not just in the centre, but also in several locations outside town, in villages, busy beaches etc.
