Protest against operation of Waste Transfer Station in Danilia

CORFU. Residents of the area are protesting outside Corfu Regional Office today.
They are protesting against the illegal operation of a waste transfer station in Kira Chrysikou, Danilia. "Today it is outside our houses - tomorrow it will be outside yours! The responsible authorities need to understand that these kinds of actions mustn't be accepted by anyone in Corfu!"
Representing the residents, Spyros Kladas claims that the waste transfer station is operating with an illegal licence and is a danger to public health for the residents. He says that it is a "shabby administrative act which is a threat to the environment and public health. Rubbish is being dumped opposite the houses in a simple outbuilding without any proper infrastructure and there are huge rodents in the residential area. We are demanding that the legality of the station owner's licence be looked into."
