CORFU. At 2.62% the Covid-19 positivity rate in Corfu is only just above the national average of 2.09% despite the large number of daily cases recorded by EODY.

The positivity rate shows the number of positive cases per 100,000 population over a period of 7 days.

The question is the basis for these figures which, especially in tourist areas such as Corfu, have increased greatly in the summer period. It could be said that there should be two sets of data - one for the local population and one for visitors. It would be extremely useful if these figures could be recorded and announced.

According to the EODY announcement on Wednesday 18 August, for the period 9-15 August the positivity rate was 3.64% for a total of 605,899 laboratory confirmed tests (RT-PCR/Rapid-Ag) and 1.31% for a total of 483,918 self tests, giving an overall positivity rate of 2.09%.

As a comparison, the positivity rate in Zakynthos is 2.13%, Thesprotia 4.57%, Ioannina 1.41% and Lefkada 2.8%.
