Latest changes to the UK Green List for travel

COVID-19
15 Jul 2021 / 13:22

LONDON. The UK has made some changes to its green and amber lists for travel.

In the latest traffic light review on 14 July Hong Kong and Bulgaria were added to the UK government’s green list of travel destinations, while Croatia and Taiwan were put on the green watchlist.

However, the Balearic Islands - including Mallorca, Ibiza and Menorca - and Virgin Islands have both been downgraded from green to amber.

The changes will take effect from 4am on Monday 19 July.

These additions bring the green list to 29 countries in total.

Those returning to the UK from these “safe” destinations, which carry a lower risk of Covid reimportation, can forgo self-isolation, but still have to present a negative Covid test before departure to the UK and a post-arrival PCR test within two days of entering Britain.

From 19 July fully-vaccinated travellers returning to the UK from amber countries will no longer have to self-isolate. The same applies to those under 18 years of age.

In the latest review Greece remains on the amber list.

There are now 29 nations on the green list:

  • Anguilla
  • Antigua and Barbuda
  • Australia
  • Barbados
  • Bermuda
  • British Antarctic Territory
  • British Indian Ocean Territory
  • Brunei
  • Bulgaria
