CORFU. The robber, whose face was covered, threatened the shopowner in Corfu Town with a gun and took €3,000 in cash plus jewelry.
Corfu Police managed to locate and arrest a Greek national for the armed robbery.
Last night, 1 July, the robber, whose face was covered, threatened the shopowner in Corfu Town with a gun and took €3,000 in cash plus jewelry.
All the local police immediately took part in the search to find the perpetrator. The Greek national was located in Corfu Town and with the evidence available to the police was identified as the perpetrator of the armed robbery and arrested.
Police found the following well-hidden in a small copse near the scene of the robbery: some of the missing jewelry, €2,975, insulation tape, a Covid-19 cotton mask, a cap, a track suit and a replica weapon.
The man is being interrogated and the search is continuing for the remainder of the stolen items.
The arrested man will be taken to appear before the Corfu Prosecutor.
