CORFU. The Regional Authority found issues with regard to the car park operating licence that need to be resolved.
From yesterday parking in the Lower Square car park next to Liston is temporarily free following an inspection by the Regional Department of Transport which found that there were issues regarding the operating licence that need to be resolved.
The inspection took place following a request from the National Transparency Authority to the Regional Department of Transport as, according to information, the licence expired in 2019.
The Department of Transport gave Central Corfu & Diapontia Islands Municipality five days to submit a written reply with its comments on the matter. In the meantime, parking is free.
According to some sources, there is talk of sealing off the car park - this, however, would have serious consequences as dozens of drivers use the facility every day. The car park has 270 spaces.
