CORFU. Even though the UK Government has put Greece on the amber list, there are still tourists who want to take their holidays in Corfu.

Two of the scheduled flights from the UK arrived at Corfu AIrport on Monday morning. The TUI flights were from Manchester and London but British Airways cancelled its flight.

Even though the UK Government has put Greece on the amber list, there are still tourists who want to take their holidays in Corfu, their favourite destination.

Tourists from England have to take a test before they fly and on their return have to go into quarantine for ten days. These are the regulations at the moment and will be reviewed by the UK Government, probably in June.

The first 'official' arrival following the start of Greek tourism was a TUI flight from Brussels on Friday evening (see photos). There was a small welcoming committee at the airport to greet the arrivals including Deputy Mayor for Tourism and other tourist professionals. Corfiots in traditional dress were there to hand out Kumquats.

Seven out of eight scheduled flights arrived on Saturday from Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Luxembourg and the Netherlands. According to Dimitris Roussos, President of the Civil Aviation Authority Union, the flights were about 55 - 60% full.
