Following the addresses from the three speakers there was a short presentation of the Municipality's platform and the results so far by Novoville Business Director Stefanos Litsardopoulos.

Ms. Ydraiou talked about the success of the online platform. "We are happy to say that the results from the Novoville platform are impressive, justifying our decision to incorporate new technologies in the Municipal administrative system - enabling us to respond immediately to people's everyday needs and problems," she said.

"I would like to thank the members of the public who immediately took to this new initiative as well as the municipal services for their tremendous efforts to provide speedy solutions to the concerns they received. Our goal in the immediate future is to incorporate even more services in the platform so that members of the public can be served smoothly at any time via their mobile phone or computer."

Data for the 7-month period

The Novoville platform started operating officially in the Central Corfu & Diapontia Islands Municipality in September 2020. Up to now members of the public have submitted over 3,800 requests and issues on the free platform, of which 2,619 (69%) have been dealt with. 2,822 people have registered on the platform and over 7,380 personal messages have been sent to citizens, making communication between the Municipality and the public more direct.

The Novoville platform gives members of the public the ability to send their requests and concerns regarding issues in the municipality via a free app for iOS and Android. Residents and visitors can communicate in real time with regard to problems they come up against in everyday life such as, for example, cleanliness and rubbish, abandoned cars, street lighting etc. and urgent issues that require a municipal response. Everyone can send their messages directly and at no cost without having to phone or visit the municipal services.

Messages are passed on to the responsible service and the sender is updated on his or her mobile phone with the ongoing progress until the issue is resolved. Users can also stay updated via the app on the latest Municipal announcements and events as well as emergencies.

Central Corfu & Diapontia Islands Municipality can now have a clearer picture of what the issues are, can plan better and is accountable for the work it does and how it responds to the public.

Useful phone numbers and frequently asked questions are updated regularly and are available on the app - making it a comprehensive tool for communication and updates for residents and visitors.
