CORFU. A young Corfu schoolgirl with mild symptoms tested postitive for coronavirus.
According to education authority sources, the girl is a pupil at a Corfu Town junior high school. There is concern as the regulations say that if a case is confirmed, the specific class has to be temporarily suspended.
The Regional Education Director Petros Aggelopoulos told Enimerosi that an official announcement hasn't been made yet but that he is in contact with the Health Authorities.
He said that the matter is being looked into and that, if necessary, the proper protocols will be followed and the class will be suspended from Monday.
The proper procedures
As regards the handling of these types of cases, the proper procedure outlined for individual cases is that the class is suspended and if there are three or more cases, the whole school is closed.
The decision to close schools or classes is taken by the Education Director in agreement with the Regional Director of Public Health.
