CORFU. Holy Blessings and books handed out on the first day back at school in the ΄Covid era΄.

The first school bells rang in Corfu and the rest of the country today, Monday 14 September, with special measures in force to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

Pupils and teachers wore masks and made an effort to adapt, not just to the new school year, but to the new circumstances due to the 'Covid era'.

There were the traditional Holy Blessings, but without parents being present this year. There was also social distancing in the playground, masks, antiseptic and, naturally, concern as to whether everyone - pupils, teachers and parents - will be able to adhere to the hygiene protocols and the expert guidelines in order to avoid the spread of coronavirus.

Pupils and teachers are now back at school despite the problems and the worries about what might lie ahead. A new era with new circumstances and new demands, and it is up to everyone to respond as best they can to the circumstances and demands - parents, teachers and all local and national officials - so that the 2020-21 school year goes smoothly.
