CORFU. Authorities are still investigating the death of British woman Claire Glatman, 60, who lost her life when she was hit by speedboat propellers.

The two suspect speedboats were found on the same day, just a few hours after the accident. They were lifted out of the water and examined but it seems the initial evidence had disappeared very quickly in the sea, which meant that the Coast Guard couldn't bring charges against specific people. All those who were brought in for questioning were allowed to go free.

Both the Port Authorities and Coroner Ioannis Aivatidis are conducting a detailed examination of the two boats which were considered suspect from the very beginning with the assistance of experts and technical advisors. Evidence so far completely rejects the possible involvement of another boat.

On Monday the propellers of the boats were removed and are being re-examined by a technician with special mechanical equipment and they will be sent along with DNA and blood samples from the victim to the laboratories at the Police Headquarters in Attica.

Medical Examiner and Coroner Ioannis Aivatidis told Enimerosi that he has found and recorded a potentially suspicious piece of evidence on one of the boats. Whether it is connected with the accident remains to be discovered from questioning.

The skippers on both boats - a man and a woman - both have skipper certificates. They have both also admitted that they were sailing the boats on that particular day but that they weren't involved in the death of the 60-year-old British woman.

The tragic incident took place on the last day of August when the woman, who was staying at her villa with her family, went for a morning swim at Avlaki beach.

Initially there were reports that she had gone far out into the sea but according to a recent article in the Daily Mail, witnesses say that she was swimming just 20 metres from the beach.

The 60-year-old woman was hit by the propeller of a speedboat and the driver disappeared. Since then the Coast Guard have been trying to determine the identity of the person. The autopsy showed that the woman had suffered multiple injuries from the propeller and died a few minutes later from severe haemorrhaging.
