AMSTERDAM. Official travel advice from the Foreign Ministry - Mandatory 10-day quarantine for those arriving from all Greek islands without exception but not from the mainland.
The Dutch Foreign Ministry’s official travel advice has changed the colour code of the Greek islands from “yellow” (watch out for safety risks) to “orange” (only necessary trips) due to the coronavirus pandemic.
According to the new travel advice, which comes into force from today Tuesday 8 September, all travellers arriving from any Greek island will have to go into quarantine for 10 days.
Additionally, whoever has symptoms which may be from COVID-19 (fever, respiratory problems, cough) are asked to contact the Dutch health authorities.
Exceptions to the quarantine are those who work on ships, who need to visit their families for emergency reasons, health and armed forces employees, according to the Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf.
This blow to Greek tourism comes just one day after the announcement from UK Minister of Transport that arrivals from 7 Greek islands must go into quarantine for 14 days. The Dutch Foreign Ministry has said that travel to the Greek mainland is allowed but travellers must be aware of the coronavirus measures and regulations and adhere to them.
