EDINBURGH. The Scottish Government announced new measures for travellers arriving from Greece.
The new measure comes into force at 4am (local time) on Thursday 3 September and there will be a mandatory 14-day quarantine for travellers arriving directly from Greece.
Scottish authorities said that there had been a "significant rise" in cases of COVID-19 imported into Scotland by people who have been to Greece.
For the moment the measure only applies in Scotland and not the rest of the UK.
According to the BBC, the Scottish Justice Minister Humza Yousaf said, ""We are in the midst of a global pandemic and the situation in many countries can change suddenly. Therefore, people should think very hard before committing to non-essential travel abroad."
He added, "With Scotland's relatively low infection rate, importation of new cases from Greece is a significant risk to public health."
