Drop in the number of new coronavirus cases in Greece for 2nd day in a row - no new cases in Corfu

ATHENS. EODY announced 157 new confirmed cases on Sunday 30 August, of which 44 were imported - 35 patients intubated - 2 deaths - over 10,000 total cases.

According to the announcement from EODY, for the second day running the number of new cases in Greece has dropped.  There were 157 new cases on Sunday 30 August - also the second day running that the number has been below 200.

There were no new cases in Corfu, which means that over the last 3 days EODY has announced only one domestic case of COVID-19 on the island.

The total number of cases in Greece is now over 10,000 - 10,134 to be precise - of which 55.5% are males. 2,078 (20.5%) of the cases are connected to arrivals from abroad and 4,448 (43.9%) are from contacts with known cases.

35 patients are intubated in ICUs. The average age is 69 and 51.4% have underlying health conditions or are over 70. 149 patients have been discharged from ICUs

There were 2 deaths today taking the total number of fatalities to 262. The average age was 77 and 93.5% had underlying health conditions or were over 70.

The 157 new cases are broken down as follows:

41 from checks at entry points
3 arrivals who volunteered to be tested
50 in Attica - 5 of which were connected to recent travel in Greece
16 in Thessaloniki - 4 connected with a known case in the family
11 in Heraklion - 8 connected with a known cluster and 1 with a confirmed case
7 in Lesvos - 5 connected with a known case in the family
6 in Pieria - 4 connected with a known case in the family

2 in Chania
