124 new cases of coronavirus in Greece today - one of them in Corfu

ATHENS. EODY announced 124 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday 5 August.

EODY announced 124 new confirmed cases of SARS-CoV-2 , of which 15 were detected at entry points. The total number of cases in Greece is now 4,973, of which 54.6% are males. 1,349 (27.1%) of the cases are connected to arrivals from abroad and 2,479 (49.8%) are from contacts with known cases.

13 patients - 3 female, 10 male - are intubated in ICUs. The average age is 70 and 69.2% have underlying health conditions or are over 70. 129 patients have been discharged from ICUs

There was 1 death today, taking the total number of fatalities to 210. 67 (31.9%) were females and the average age was 76. 95.7% had underlying health conditions or were over 70.

The 124 new cases are broken down as follows:

1 in Corfu

15 from checks at entry points
9 arrivals who volunteered to be tested
22 in Attica
22 in Thessaloniki, 4 from the Gennimatas Hospital, 2 were contacts of the case at the Tax Office, 1 from the wedding earlier this week and 6 family contacts of a known case
18 in Evros - all from a wedding in Alexandroupolis
8 in Kavala - contacts of the cases at the meat-packing factory
8 in Larissa, 6 of which are doctors from 2 hospitals who were on holiday in Halkidiki plus one of their contacts
6 in Magnesia - 4 are contacts of the cases at the military barracks in Volos and 1 from the Alexandroupolis wedding
2 in Rhodes - from the wedding in Thessaloniki
2 in Imathia
2 in Kozani
2 in Halkidiki
