Fines totalling €10,000 for Dassia beach party

CORFU. Two people were arrested for violation of the measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus - organising an outdoor event at Dassia beach. Fines were also imposed totalling €10,000.

The outdoor event at Dassia beach which took place yesterday evening (Wednesday 29th) led to two arrests and fines totalling 10,000 Euros.

As Enimerosi wrote yesterday, things hotted up when the crowd of bathers  taking part in the event were sprayed with colours. This drew the attention of all the other Greeks and tourists at the beach, who photographed and videod them and called the police and Port Police.

Ionian Islands Regional Police issued the following press release today, Thursday 30 July:



"Yesterday evening, Wednesday 29 July, Paleokastritsa Police arrested two foreign nationals for violation of the measures to prevent and contain the spread of coronavirus

The two were arrested yesterday evening at a Corfu beach for organising an outdoor event which violated the temporary prohibition of outdoor events in order to contain the spread of coronavirus.

Corfu Police carried out an investigation and fines totalling 10,000 Euros were imposed.

We are not relaxing in our checks to ensure that the public health is safeguarded."
