CORFU. Part of the Central Corfu & Diapontia Islands programme of natural plant protection.
The Municipal Green Conservation Department implemented the method of plant protection using the beneficial insects (natural predators) Adalia bipunctata today, Friday 3 July.
This is a method that is also used in Canada by which larvae are placed and when they wake from their artificial dormancy they start to feed (on aphids) and reproduce. The object is for there to be a large enough population so that over time the number of aphids which attack the plants are significantly reduced or disappear.
The method was implemented on all the trees in Evg. Voulgareos, Liston, Methodiou and is continuing in Alexandras Avenue.
