ATHENS. At a broad-based meeting chaired by Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Monday it was decided, amongst other things, that Greece will follow the list drawn by the EU.

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis chaired a broad-based meeting on Monday, ahead of the country's opening to tourism on July 1

Participating in the meeting were the Ministers of Health Vassilis Kikilias, Digital Governance Kyriakos Pierrakakis, Shipping and Island Policy Yiannis Plakiotakis, Tourism Haris Theoharis and Deputy Ministers for Civil Protection Nikos Hardalias, Health Vassilis Kontozamanis, Deputy Minister to the Prime Minister responsible for the coordination of the government's works Akis Skertsos, President of the National Health Organisation (EODY) Panagiotis Arkoumaneas and professor of infectious diseases Sotiris Tsiodras, among others.

There was a review of protection measures against the coronavirus and the readiness of all the responsible agencies was confirmed.

They also discussed how targeted sample testing would be carried out, the protocols at all points of entry (information has been posted on the Foreign Ministry website www.mfa.gr), as well as the protocols for the transport to hospitals and referral hotels if there are cases.

Regarding non-EU countries, Greece will follow the list drawn up by the EU, while no direct flights will be allowed from the United Kingdom and Sweden until 15 July.

Passengers coming to Greece must fill out a special form on https://travel.gov.gr 48 hours before their arrival providing information on their point of departure and where they will be staying in Greece.

Mr. Mitsotakis said that "the whole opening procedure is dynamic and the data will be continuously evaluated." He also called on all Ministries to maintain the current good level of cooperation that exists amongst them.

"This is an unprecedented situation and there will inevitably be mistakes and missteps, but with good cooperation and timely action we will be able to address them," he said.

It was agreed by all that proper preparation has been made at all levels to ensure maximum security for both visitors and local residents.
