ATHENS. Joint decision from three Ministers that there should be special rooms to isolate confirmed coronavirus cases whose clinical condition does not require hospital care.

A joint decision from the Ministers of Finance, Health and Tourism provides for the creation of special isolation rooms or areas in hotels for confirmed COVID-19 cases whose clinical condition does not require hospital care.

This “temporary solution” will complement the creation of a network of quarantine hotels in Greece and allow the safe opening of Greek tourism. The provisions of the joint Ministerial Decision will apply until special units are designated by Regional Authorities or islands to accommodate cases and prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The Ministerial Decision states that hotels with up to 10 rooms require one isolation room; hotels with up to 50 rooms require two isolation rooms; and hotels with over 50 rooms require as many isolation rooms are equal to 3% of the total room capacity.

The Tourism Minister Haris Theoharis said, "The safe restart of Greek tourism is our top priority. An important step has been taken today to consolidate the sense of safety. We are not complacent, but we continue to focus on this goal every day,"
