Save Erimitis movements unhappy with TV ΄Special Report΄

Erimitis

CORFU. They consider that the special TV programme on Erimitis presented by Tasos Teloglou was misleading and provocative.

The President of 'Erimitis Plus' posted the following:

SPECIAL REPORT: "the location for a popular TV series - but also the scene of a hard battle between investors, locals and foreign billionaires..." That's how Mr. Teloglou saw the Erimitis issue...

The titles and content of the programme were clearly misleading and "rather provocative..."

With its 'objectivity' the programme obscures the opposition that has been clearly expressed by the vast majority of the Corfu people and organisations to the investment and presents the dispute as a "hard battle between billionaires".

He doesn't mention the wholehearted determination of the local community to protect the Erimitis ecosystem and their anger at those pushing for its destruction and presents the community which is united in its fight as being "deeply divided"...

Just as Mr. Giorgiades wants to present the Erimitis issue ... he has found his mouthpiece!!

He presents the arguments of those obssessively plotting to promote the 'investment' (the 'big coup' with the 'smell of scandal' - one scandal after the other) as the "ideal proposal for tourist development" and says that the investing company is "friendly towards the environment, the local community and business". The opposition and reactions 'disappear' and it is made to appear that there is acceptance and approval from the community - consequently there is no mention of the Save Erimitis movements and how strong they are...

Nevertheless, the Erimitis movement is here and whoever insists on trying to destroy the area, the environment and the economy will have to deal with us and our complete opposition to their plans.

At the end of the programme Mr. Teloglou asked Mr. Santi, "Now that you have the necessary permissions, when do you plan to begin? Immediately? This summer?" He wanted to have a 'happy end'. Believe us, however, Mr. Teloglou, that's not the way things are. There is still a lot that they will find themselves up against...
