South Corfu
10 Jun 2020 / 12:24

CORFU. The Association for the Protection of South Corfu Natura Areas is organising its first activity on Sunday 14 June.

The event is being organised to raise awareness as well as clean up Halikouna beach and get to know the Lake Korission habitat.

The aim is to involve South Corfu residents - and others - in the protection of the environment and keeping the beaches and habitats clean as well as raising awareness with regard to the Natura areas and the dangers of their being spoilt. It is also an opportunity to encourage collective action.

Along with the Association for the Protection of South Corfu Natura Areas, the Corfu Trekking & Mountaineering Association will also be taking part - starting in Issos, they will clean up the cedar forests and the shores of Lake Korission.

Members and friends of the two associations will meet up at the entrance to the lake, where there will be a presentation on the Natura area. The event is being supported by the South Corfu Municipality.

Start: 10:00
Meet-up: Car park at the beginning of Halikouna beach
Equipment: gloves, hats, closed shoes, sunscreen and water

Along with members and friends, the Association invites everyone else to come and take part in this activity which will include trekking, cleaning up, information on the area and - for those that wish - swimming at Halikouna beach.
