CORFU. The rainy weather wasn΄t bad enough to lead to the cancellation of the wreath laying ceremony at the Ionian Islands Union Monument for the 156th anniversary of 21 May 1864.
Everything was ready from early this morning for the wreath laying ceremony in the Upper Square for the anniversary of the Union of the Ionian Islands with Greece on 21 May, 1864.
The proper health measures had been taken as can be seen from the signs and ropes that had been put up.
The weather, however, was changeable and the downpour just after 11:00 almost led to the cancellation of the ceremony. Nevertheless, it went ahead in the rain.
