Corfu Town - like a ghost town

With a daily increase in the measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus the number of people that can be seen on the streets can be counted on the fingers of one hand. Children's playgrounds are empty and neighbourhood sports grounds, which until recently aroused voices of protest against the strict 'Stay at Home' guideline, have been taped off and the basketball hoops removed.



The gates of Mon Repos Estate, with its large palace gardens - an ideal spot for runners and visitors - are now closed.



The Church of Saint Spyridon remains open, but only for a few visitors who want to come and pray. On the chairs there notices asking users to use antiseptic wipes on anything they touch.
