Travel ban to and from Italy and Albania

ATHENS. Decision follows today΄s meeting chaired by the Prime Minister. Meeting with Holy Synod tomorrow regarding church services.

All road, sea and air travel to and from Albania and North Macedonia has been halted except for goods transportation and Greek citizens or residents. Passenger ferries to and from Italy have also been stopped, but transportation of goods is still allowed.

Tomorrow's extraordinary meeting of the Holy Synod will discuss the Prime Minister's instructions to Archbishop Ieronimos that churches remain open only for individuals and services that are absolutely necessary with as few people as possible.

Today's meeting also discussed ways to avoid crowds at supermarkets and open-air markets.

Present at today's meeting were Minister of State, Giorgos Gerapetritis; Deputy Health Minister, Vassilis Kontozamanis; Deputy Prime Minister & Government Coordinator, Akis Skertsos; Professor of Infectious Diseases, Sotiris Tsiodras; Civil Protection General Secretary, Nikos Hardalias; Director of Prime Minister's Diplomatic Office, Eleni Sourani; General Secretary to the Prime Minister, Grigoris Dimitriades. Government Representative, Stelios Petsas and other advisers took part by video-conferencing.
