CORFU. A large tree fell in Garitsa cemetery due to yesterday΄s strong winds.
The heavy tree caused damage to the marble on three graves. The Deputy Mayor for Everyday Issues Haris Yiotis told Enimerosi that the Green Services Department has registered some large trees at the cemetery as being dangerous and they will be cut and pruned. The tree in question wasn't one of those but fell due to the strong winds.
Municipal crews are at the cemetery today to clear up and remove the earth. Mr. Yiotis said that photographs have been taken of the damaged graves and the families have the right to request compensation from the Municipality.
