CORFU. ΄The Voice - Citizens for Transparency΄ has challenged the 14% figure announced by Meropi Ydraiou.
'The Voice - Citizens for Transparency' is represented by Angel Riga on the Central Corfu & Diapontia Islands Municipal Council and collaborates with the 'Kerkyraiki Anagennisi' party led by Chrysanthos Sarlis. They posted the following regarding the amount of materials recycled in 2019:
"According to SYDISA (Solid Waste Management Association), Corfu handled approximately 56,000 tons in 2019, of which 7,300 tons - approximately 13% - went for recycling. In a statement she made yesterday the Mayor said that the percentage going for recycling had increased from 4% to 14% in 2019.
The truth of the matter is that of the 7,300 tons of recyclable materials collected, approximately 4,000 tons were recovered and the remaining 3,300 went to Temploni landfill along with the mixed waste without any secure management.
Therefore, recycling in Corfu is barely at 7%. This is the truth and whenever the public is being deceived the 'Voice' will shout it out!"
