ATHENS. The invitation for tenders for the new Waste Management Facility in Corfu will go out in the new year according to a report in ypodomes.com.
The report says that preparations are almost complete - leading to optimism that the call for tenders can go out just a few weeks after the festive period and the contract settled, if all goes well, possibly in the summer of 2020. The 18-month construction period will then be able to begin.
The project to construct the urban solid waste management unit has already been included in the ESPA Programme with 29.13m Euros (36.12m when VAT is added).
It should be noted that in the last few months the contract for a maturity study has been drawn up for the Corfu Residue Landfill as this is a necessary part of the infrastructure required for the new waste management system under development.
