CORFU. It was impossible for Corfu Port Authority to clear the seaweed on the Garitsa shore road because of the parked cars.

The parked cars on Garitsa shore road today, Thursday 5 December, proved to be an obstruction to work being carried out to clean up the seaweed.

Corfu Port Authority Managing Director Spyros Zervopoulos had told Enimerosi that they would take responsibility for clearing up the seaweed that had been washed up by Storm Victoria on November 12.

Although the cleaning crews had started to clean up, they couldn't complete the work because of the parked cars at the side of the road.

It should be noted that on Wednesday night (4/12) red tape had been put up along the side of the road to prohibit cars from parking (parking is prohibited there in any case) so that the work could be carried out...
