CORFU. Following the 10 tons that have already been sent in 3 previous loads by volunteers and ΄All Together for Corfu΄ led by Spyros Neratzis.

The volunteer group 'All Together for Corfu' made an announcement about the clothing being collected and sent to the recycling facility in Athens.

Announcement from the coordinator Spyros Neratzis:

"Members of the public have once again shown with actions not words their tremendous sense of responsiblity for waste management, based on the principles of sorting at source and the circular economy. Another recycling stream - and a difficult one - has been established alongside the other sorting at source streams.

On Wednesday 4 November the 4th load of clothing and footwear left for the Recycom facility in Athens. 5 tons of clothing have been added to the previous 10 tons which didn't go to Temploni but have gone to be utilised.

We should point out that there was no financial remuneration from the collection of clothing other than the provision of gift vouchers for the purchase of some goods from supermarkets, which will be covered by organised groups in Corfu. This shows that the public's only motivation is respect and sensitivity towards the environment and our island.

We would like to thank Petros Agathos' transport company for storing and loading 26 pallets of clothing and Agisilaos Kouris (Lilo) for his valuable assistance.

Finally, we would like to thank Temploni-Ropa Valley 'Panagia Sparmiotissa' Cultural Society, and especially Vassilis Merkouris, for their cooperation and valuable help in collecting clothing."
