CORFU. The newly-formed non-profit association Waste Watch Corfu is organising an international meeting "The Modern European Dimension in Waste Management: Can Corfu follow this model?"
Waste Watch Corfu was set up to promote proper waste management and support local recycling.
The meeting will take place at Corfu Chamber of Commerce on Saturday 19 October at 17:30. The main speakers will be Antonis Mavropoulos, President - International Solid Waste Association; Vanya Veras, General Secretary - EU Urban Waste Management and Josep Maria Tost, Director - Catalonia Waste Management Organisation.
Representatives form the local authorities, political parties, businesses and producers as well as from interested Corfu organisations have been invited to the meeting to take part in an in-depth discussion to find sustainable and environmentally-friendly solutions to waste management on the island.
Due to limited seating, attendance will be on a priority basis but there will be livestreaming on the Waste Watch Corfu Facebook Page so that all those interested can follow the meeting and put questions.
The meeting is expected to last three hours with a coffee break.
