CORFU. Corfu Chamber of Commerce and the Central Corfu & Diapontia Islands Department for Voluntary Work organised a meeting at the Chamber.

The meeting was held to show support for the 120 volunteers who in 13 months have set up 25 Recycling Centres throughout Corfu, which are supported by over 7,000 locals.

It was the first meeting at which the volunteers had the opportunity to meet with an official organisation (Chamber of Commerce) and representatives of the Municipality under Mayor Meropi Ydraiou, with Yiannis Seremetis - in charge of waste management - and Spyros Neratzis - in charge of voluntary work.

The former Deputy Mayor Spyros Kaloudis, who played a significant role in the development of Recycling Centres, was also present.

The Chamber responded to the request from All Together for Corfu for a donation of 170 construction sacks (Big Bags 90x90x140 FB) to the volunteers working at the 25 Green Spots in Corfu.

The Central Corfu & Diapontia Islands Department for Voluntary Work has expressed its thanks to the Chamber of Commerce - President Giorgos Hondroyiannis, General Secretary Vassili Vassilakis, Director Spyridoula Koulouri and all the Board - for their immediate response and support. "It was an important donation for the local volunteers who came to the Chamber yesterday to accept it but what was even more important was the reward for their efforts and recognition for their contribution to recycling and ecological conscience."
