Subsidence in section of newly-built Erikoussa port

There has been subsidence in a section of the port on Erikoussa island just one year after it was constructed. There is subsidence of approximately 10cm in a 3sq.m. area on the inner jetty.

Deputy Mayor for Technical Services Andreas Goulis was actually on the island when the subsidence occurred and was immediately informed. Corfu Port Authority, which is responsible for the port, has sent a diver and other personnel to assess the damage and repairs will be carried out by the original contractor who is bound by contract to carry out maintenance for 18 months.

According to the Deputy Mayor, there is no problem regarding the mooring of vessels.
