PAXOS. Paxos Port Authority arrested the 28-year-old captain on Friday afternoon
According to the Port Police, it was discovered that the captain of the 'Joy Star' was carrying 260 passengers whereas the maximum allowed is 227 according to the ships' safety certificate.
A representative from the shipping company spoke to Enimerosi and said that the ship was allowed to carry up to 280 passengers but that the violation for which the captain was arrested was not for carrying too many passengers but for not declaring the arrival and departure of the ship in Gaia as is required.
The local Port Authority is conducting the initial interrogation.
