Man, 51, shot at Lakka harbour in Paxos

A 51-year-old man of Albanian origin is hospitalised at the Ioannina University Hospital,  in a critical but stable condition. He was shot by an unknown assailant at Lakka harbour in Paxos.

The incident occurred shortly after 10 pm on Wednesday, 10 August. Personnel from the Coast Guard Station of Paxos, the police and an ambulance immediately arrived at the scene and the man was taken to Paxos Health Centre. However, due to his condition, he was transferred a little later by a private vessel to Arilla Perdika harbour and from there to Ioannina University Hospital.

He underwent surgery, and his condition is temporarily stable.

According to information, the man was injured in the abdominal area and legs. Fourteen bullet casings were found at the scene of the attack. The reasons for the attack remain unknown, while reports suggest that the assault was carried out by a fellow countryman, who is currently being sought.

The victim was reportedly on holiday with his wife and their three young children in Paxos. According to iefimerida.gr, the 51-year-old has a very serious criminal history.

The investigation is being conducted by Paxos Coast Guard Station. and a team from the Corfu Police Department arrived in Paxos immediately after the incident.
