Two young Corfu athletes win Gold at National Championships

KATERINI. On Saturday 22nd, the first day of the National Under-20 Championships, Spyridoula Karidi and Panayiota Dosi won Gold in the triple jump and high jump respectively.
With their excellent performances the two young Corfu athletes showed that they are capable of doing well in the European Under-20 Athletics Championships in Gävle, Sweden 18 - 21 July.
Spyridoula Karidi, trained by Pavlos Skordilis, jumped 13.55m at her first attempt in the final - her second best jump ever. Her second jump was 13.50m but she left the last two as she will be taking part in the long jump on Sunday. Her personal best is 13.60m, which she jumped this year and puts her amongst the best in Europe and bodes well for the European Championships in Sweden.
Panayiota Dosi took first place in the high jump with 1.82m. She also made an unsuccessful attempt at 1.86m in an effort to break the national record in the category.
