CORFU. Contract to be signed on Friday 17 May.
On Friday 17 May Corfu Mayor Kostas Nikolouzos will sign the contract with a representative of the company that will carry out the restoration work on three historical buildings at Mon Repos.
The project 'Restoration of three buildings in Mon Repos Estate', with a budget of 1,996,285 Euros, covers the restoration of the buildings, archaeological expenses and the purchase of equipment for the buildings. The municipality is contracting out the first of these with a budget of 1,852,096 Euros (including VAT) and the contract budget, with rebate, is 818,867,58 Euros. The deadline for the work to be completed is 24 months after the signing of the contract.
Restoration work
The three buildings on the estate that are to be restored are the Home of the Guard Mastrokopoulos, the Clinic and the Staff Building.
The Municipality wishes to save these historical buildings and to bring them back into current use in a way that will showcase their historical importance but without taking anything away from their historical integrity.
The three buildings will be used in the field of education and research in conference tourism. International scientific conferences and research workshops will be organised as well as research and technological postgraduate and doctoral programmes for young scientists.
The three restored buildings will be used along with the Mon Repos conference hall for workshops, international conferences and summer schools - as offices, annexes and small committee rooms.
The buildings will be equipped with desks, computers, printers etc so that attendees can have easy access to international bibliographies and research work as well as to continue collaborative work from the meetings.
