Mon Repos Management Organisation to be set up - Paid admission for tourists

Mayor Stefanos Poulimenos and Minister of Culture Lina Mendoni discussed paid admission to visit the Mon Repos estate during their meeting on Thursday at the Ministry of Culture.
As the Mayor stated in a press conference, they agreed with the Minister of Culture to establish a Management Organisation for the estate and the Archaeological Site of Mon Repos, with the participation of the Central Corfu municipal development company KAPODIAN S.A.
Maintenance and enhancement
There will be paid admission to the park and the Archaeological Site of Mon Repos in order for the estate, which is owned by the Municipality, to generate the necessary revenue to meet its modern demands, such as the ongoing care of the park, the restoration of the surrounding wall, the restoration of walking paths, visitor information points, the operation of a refreshment area, the creation of bus parking spaces, etc.
Free for Corfiots
When asked by journalists, Stefanos Poulimenos gave categoric assurances that Corfiots would not pay for admission.
He also differentiated between the entrance ticket, which will be revenue for the Municipality, from the ticket for the Summer Palace, which belongs to the Ministry of Culture.
