Garitsa shore road: Section between NAOK and Douglas Column now complete

CORFU. The section of the road up to the Desyllas junction is expected to be completed by the end of August.
The Ionian Islands Regional Governor Theodoros Galiatsatos told the local media today that he was happy that the work had been completed on a large section of the shore road in Garitsa. He was also critical of the previous Regional Administration and the delays there had been.
The road had suffered from serious erosion, almost to the point of collapse, and nothing had been done about it for five years. The work finally started in 2017 today the section from NAOK (Sailing Club) to the Douglas Column was reopened to traffic. The section up to the Desyllas junction is expected to be completed by the end of August. The study from Corfu Port Authority is being awaited in order to complete the final section up to Anemomylos.
Both the Regional Governor and the representative from the contracted company made statements to the media today.
