΄Old΄ Philharmonic Band: Concert at Municipal Theatre

CORFU. Saturday 20 April at Corfu Municipal Theatre.
The 'Old' Philharmonic Band, conducted by Spyros Prosoparis, will be performing its traditional concert at the beginning of Easter Week.
The concert will include traditional classical pieces as well as works that will be performed for the first time in Corfu. The first half will include Hungarian March by Berlioz from The Damnation of Faust and the overture from Verdi's opera Oberto, Conte di San Bonifacio. The soloist will be Kostas Nikas leading trumpeter from the Greek National Opera who will perform the wonderful and demanding Trumpet Concerto by Alexander Arutiunian.
In the second half musical works connected with European wars will be predominant. These include Wellington's Victory by Beethoven and the 1812 Overture by Tchaikovsky from the Napoleonic period.
