CORFU. This spooky sight on the traffic island at Alykes junction must have been seen by countless drivers as thousands of cars pass by the spot every day.
It isn't unusual to see dead animals on the road, unfortunately. However, one would expect some effort to remove them from busy spots. Judging by how much it has disintegrated this animal must have been here for months - both a health risk and a horrible sight.
The responsibility for cleaning this area is probably lost somewhere in the labyrinth of bureaucracy but in the meantime this sight will remain - like a 'skeleton in our cupboard'.
