CORFU. One of the four accused of the arson attack on Lefkimmi landfill was remanded in custody.
The other three were released subject to restrictive conditions until a trial date is set.
The four Lefkimmi residents were taken to appear before the Prosecutor this morning with a crowd of fellow residents gathered outside the Courthouse to show their support.
The defence lawyer Mr. Basaras stated that there was no evidence to link those arrested with the crime - there were only "supposed confessions" ..."With the evidence, I don't consider that there is any justification in remanding the man in custody. Within five days he will exercise his right to lodge an appeal and be vindicated," said Mr. Basaras.
