CORFU. Following the request of the mother, the body is expected to be taken to Albania on Tuesday morning.
The body of 28-year-old Aggelina Petrou - whose murder has dominated the Greek media over the last few days - is due to be transported to Albania on Tuesday 8th.
According to the Corfu coroner Chrisavgi Koussi, all the necessary procedures have been completed and following an order from the Prosecutor's office the body will be taken via Mavromati at the Albanian border (it will be transported there free by Pateli undertakers' office) to her birthplace Berat, where her mother is. The request of her father, who confessed to killing her, for the burial to take place in Corfu with expenses covered by the godparents or the Municipality was rejected. His lawyer Vassilis Noulezas made the request on his behalf saying that the concern of his client's ex-wife was too late.
However, the mother's request has been satisfied. She spoke publicly right from the beginning and her lawyer Yianna Papagopoulou, after confirming that all the necessary procedures had been completed, reiterated what the mother had said. "The mother wishes to fulfil her daughter's desire to be buried in her village of Berat along with her much-loved grandmother, who took care of her.."
