Gift of handcuffs for the Mayor from Lefkimmi residents!

Furious Lefkimmi residents interrupted the Town Council meeting at Mon Repos. As they have declared on numerous occasions, they are not going to allow the Town Council to function if the police presence is not removed from South Corfu.

They refused to withdraw and allow the meeting to continue despite pleas from the Council President. At the beginning of the meeting they brought 'Christmas gifts' for the Mayor and President of the Cleansing Association - handcuffs, symbolising the illegal operation of Lefkimmi landfill and the police presence. Amidst a storm of protests the meeting was suspended.
