CORFU. Two new information and educational presentations took place from the volunteer group All Together for Corfu.
The presentations were made to pupils and teachers at the Evening Vocational High School and to Acharavi residents.
The head of the volunteer group Spyros Nerantzis made the following statement after the meetings:
"Yet another day filled with optimism and belief that the people of Corfu love their island and will change it.
The pupils at the Evening Vocational High School showed great interest in the presentation of the recycling plan with sorting at source. They have started collecting bottle tops and that's just the beginning!
There was tremendous interest and a thirst to take part which filled us with optimism that we will have the future that befits us. We would like to thank all the pupils for their participation and the satisfaction they gave us.
We would also like to thank the School Director Konstantinos Baltas and the teachers - Moschopoulos, Fotiou, Tsirimiagos, Poulimenos, Serdeni, Panagi and Lavranos - for their participation, the initiatives they are undertaking and the education they are providing.
At the evening meeting with Acharavi residents, before they temporarily blocked the road in protest at the unacceptable situation with the rubbish in their village, they decided to learn about recycling and sorting at source.
They eagerly decided to become a part of the chain of those creating Green Spots. Without a second thought the President of Ag. Pantelimona Cultural Society told us that they would take on the responsibility of setting up the Green Spot."
