23-year-old Stefanos Koulouris has been in hospital since the early hours of Sunday morning. He has accused the riot police (MAT) of beating him on Saturday night during the incidents and the fire at Melikia, Lefkimmi. According to hospital sources, he is being kept in hospital as a precaution in case symptoms appear which weren't initially visible.
The young man has given a statement to the police and a formal enquiry has been ordered.
