CORFU. Police officers handed out leaflets about safety on the roads on the first day of the new school year today.
The police initiative was aimed at raising the awareness of parents and schoolchildren about road safety - especially when they are coming and going to school.
The leaflets give advice and describe in a simple way the basic rules of the Highway Code so that young children can use the roads safely. They also contain useful advice for parents to teach their children properly about road safety.
